Goodness abounds I tell you. Goodness abounds!
The lovely Jen over at Devourer of Books, along with several other fabulous bloggers, came up with the brilliant idea of supporting the book publishing industry’s biggest event of the year (Book Expo America) by organizing a purchasing extravaganza called No BEA, Books Anyway. Since I couldn’t be in NYC to participate in the copious amounts of love being handed out on what I imagine is every corner of the Javits I made due with buying some of my own.
Though I did buy at least one chick-lit book, today I focused my efforts more on the young adult section.

Aren’t they pretty?
In case you can’t make out the titles my swag consists of:
- Uglies – Scott Westerfeld
- The Lightening Thief – Rick Riordan
- The Sea of Monsters – Rick Riordan
- A Great and Terrible Beauty – Libba Bray
- Rebel Angels – Libba Bray
- Speak – Laurie Halse Anderson
- The Love of Her Life – Harriet Evans
- The Truth About Forever – Sarah Dessen
- The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
I’ve heard good things from my fellow bloggers about either the book selected or the author who wrote it so I’m quite excited to dive in and formulate my own opinions on them.
Tonight I’ll be starting with The Hunger Games, it seems to have gotten the strongest response when spoken of which, in turn, makes me curious to see how well I like it. It looks to be a pretty quick read so I hope to be able to read a second from the pile tomorrow as well. Any suggestions as to which one?
So my friends, did you buy new books this weekend? Whatcha’ get?

Rebekah:
Great selection! I was thinking of posting a pic of my grabs too. I love the whole Uglies Series by Scott Westerfield, but I’ve always been a big fan of dystopian fiction. Haven’t read any of the others yet…looking forward to reading your take! (writefly)

Woo hoo!! Excellent purchases! I’ve read the Riordans, the Brays, The Truth About Forever and The Hunger Games. I have The Uglies on the TBR. I need to do my post…you bought way more than I did! Too bad it’s an off pay week!

Great haul! Any excuse to buy books is a good one! I bought a cookbook today, and may get something else tomorrow. I know I’m going to a bookstore so it’s probably inevitable that I’ll buy something!

Those are some good books you got today. I was feeling blue and was almost tempted to go and buy a book as it always cheers me up but I didn’t.
I got Speak on my TBR pile. I have heard alot of good things about Sarah Dessen. I have a few of her books that I borrowed from the library to read.
Enjoy your books. Hey there is always next year for BEA. Hopefully we will meet then

You have some great books there. Are you enjoying Hunger Games? I keep thinking that’s one I should be reading. I’m also going to start on the Uglies series, too – I’ve heard such great things about that series.

I gave Hunger Games a try and was pleasantly surprised. I don’t usually do well with dystopian fiction.
