Name That Book Club

In case you live under a rock (or don’t follow me on Twitter) you may not yet be aware that I’m partnering up with Drea of Book Blather
fame to put together an online YA book club. In case you’ve been buried super deep under that gorgeous rock of yours you also may not realize that we’ve been banging our heads against the wall trying to come up with a witty name for the group. We’ve even put out several calls to Twitter Peeps (who have come up with some great names) but ultimately have not yet latched on to a name we can’t live without.
So at this point you have to be asking, “what does this mean to me Michelle”? Well, what it means is that we’re gonna have a contest — name that book club style. With prizes and everything!
How does this whole naming the club contest work? Well between today and Sunday, August 23rd at midnight comment on this post with any and all ideas you have for the name of a YA book club. After August 23rd Drea and I will sift through the submissions and choose the winning name. From that list the top three contenders will be awarded prizes.
Prizes? Did someone say prizes? Yes, I did say prizes and this is how awarding them will work. First, there will be three different prizes:
- A signed ARC of Paper Towns by John Green and a copy of 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
- A $30 gift card from Barnes and Noble
- A $15 gift card from Borders Books
We’ll select a 1st prize winner (who’s name we’ll ultimately adopt for the club) as well as 2nd and 3rd place runners up. In succession each winner will be able to choose from the list of prizes available. So….1st place gets pick of the litter and can choose what prize of the three they want before the others. Then 2nd place can choose from the remaining two and the 3rd place winner gets to keep the last one standing.
Make sense? Cool!
Michelle and Drea, you ask, is there anything we should know about as we’re thinking of a super cool cute and witty name for the club? Why yes….yes there is, thank you for asking. Here are some deets to keep in mind as you’re putting your thinking caps on:
- This will be an all inclusive book club, meaning if you like YA you’re in. Don’t care about your age your gender or any of that shtuff.
- A variety of multimedia will be used to conduct discussion (ie: blog posts, chat, forums, Skype, etc) but the specifics of all that is to be determined at a later date.
- We’ve already chosen the first book we want to discuss and it is a highly anticipated doozy of a fabulous novel that we think most everyone will love. Wait for it….wait for it….. yup you guessed it Catching Fire!

*squeals*
Can’t.wait.to.discuss.publicly.
Anyway, I digress. I think that should give you all enough to go on. Right? If not please let us know what questions you have.
Finally, once we have a name chosen more details about how the club will work will be given in a nice big fun kick off post announcing the winners!
So go forth and name young ones! We need your collective creativity.

No new name suggestions, but I do love YA Hooligans!
The group sounds like a ton of fun and I’d love to participate when I can. Whether or not I can join you for Catching Fire will totally depend on how fast my library can procure and process what they have on order. I’m #8 on the list for one of 11 ordered copies, but it can take them a few weeks from release date to get a new book into circulation.
Looking forward to finding out what other titles will be on the agenda.

OK, I tried to answer without reading any of the comments, but my will in weak and now my knees are rattling together because I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to come up with something half as awesome as some of the ones already mentioned. (Totally loving Young Adultery. LOL) But I’ll try.
