One of my very favorite things about reading is reading books in a series. I adore getting to know characters and watching as they progress from point A to point Z over time. But, if you are anything like me, as much as you’d like to read all the books in a particular series you also run into other obligations or constraints.
Well, I’m here to tell you that now there’s going to be a time to dedicate yourself, and your reading habits, *only* to the books in a series (or multiple series).
For the week starting December 14 through December 20 I’ll be holding Seriespalooza, where participants will read only books in a series they are either currently reading or are wanting to start. It’s a relaxed affair where you can read at your leisure so there isn’t any pressure. It’s just a great excuse to dip into the pile of books you want to read instead of those you may have scheduled to read as a result of other obligations.
As part of the fun, over the course of the week I’ll be posting exclusively about series books and authors. Not only that but you can follow all the fun using the Twitter hashtag #seriespalooza. Oh and because no party is complete without presents I’ll also be dipping into my bag of tricks to award prizes for people who are participating!
At the moment I plan on reading from the following series:
- Marsden’s Tomorrow, When the War Began
- Ness’ Knife of Never Letting Go
- Westerfeld’s Uglies
I imagine there might be others that pop into my mind between now and when Seriespalooza starts so I’m not going to restrict myself only to the above. It’s going to be a go with the flow kinda event for me. I’d love to hear what you are going to read too if you want to post about it.
Interested in joining me? Link up below so I can cheer you on and party with you during the festivities!

Louise:
I love the Marsden series but have only read two of them so far. I have the next two in the series at home. I am already reading the sequel to The Knife of Never Letting Go, but recently bought the Uglies, Pretties and Specials, and will join your palooza in order to have fun – first and foremost – but also to get some more read in those series. Thanks for a great initiative

I have the first in the Tomorrow series, so I will definitely being reading that. I’ve read the Uglies series, but just bought the fourth, kind of unrelated book Extras. I also have books 1 and 3 in The Nightworld series, so I may look into reading those, too. Yikes, okay must remember it’s only a week long! LOL

This is a great idea! I think I am going to focus on the first two books in Daniel Abraham’s fantasy series that I have on my shelves, in his Long Price Quartet series. I am pretty sure those two books will take me through the week

I think I’ll be joining you. I need to read Catching Fire, Pretties (etc.) and The Ask and the Answer, plus I’d love to start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and move onto The Girl Who Played with Fire. Great idea!

I’m not in the middle of any series right now (except for Harry Potter, but I’m doing that one on audio), but if I can find one, I’ll join in =)

I’m thinking about it, I have a couple of books from series in progress sitting around, maybe 3 from different series without having to buy anymore and they are all fun reads…

I’m not sure if I’ll participate or not, but I want to. It’s just that between my birthday, Phantom, a big project at work, and packing for my trip home, I don’t know how much time I’ll have to read!

This sounds like a wonderful idea. I have lots of series books I’d like to catch up on. I read the first in the Anita Blake series and that looks interesting. I have two more books in Kate Atkinson’s Jackson Brodie books. I just recieved a bunch of Outlander books I haven’t started. What else? There must be more?

Wow, I totally forgot about this with all the house related stuff! Shortening my list to the first of the tomorrow series and the 4th Uglies book. Not as many as I was hoping, but hey, at least I can still give it a go!

This is exactly what I need. I have been wanting to start book #3 of Harry Potter and I’ve decided to take a break from Under the Dome till after the new year. My blogging, in general, sucks. But I can Twitter. Oh how I can Twitter.
