The Power of Influence

It’s been argued (for and against) that book bloggers have some margin of influence in the publishing world. I would tend to lean more towards the argument that we do indeed have an positive effect but if asked outright to prove it with hard facts and data I would most certainly fall short. The good news is that Rebecca of The Book Lady’s Blog and Brett of Kaplan Publishing are undertaking an exciting new iniative that will lend itself to providing that statistical support.
So here I am more than happy to shout about it from the roof tops. According to The Book Lady’s Blog post on the matter she and Brett “have created this anonymous survey intended to help establish baseline data on book bloggers’ statistics”.
Now I know….when people start talking statics people get all squitchy. But really, the survey is anonymous so it’s totally non-judgy and it’s honestly not about who’s stats are bigger anyway. It’s about creating a clearer picture about how far a blogger’s reach truly is.
I’m not going to go any further into why this is a fabulous project because I don’t want to steal their thunder. What I am going to do is point you to the post that explains it all in detail (click the link above). Then I’m going to encourage you to participate. I know I’m going to!

Rebecca @ The Book Lady's Blog:
Thanks for your support and participation, Michelle! I love that you get it!

I’m glad it’s anonymous. Posting stats publicly is like finding oneself naked on beach full of supermodels.
