Welcome friends! Here we are in the last month of the Harry Potter Reading Challenge!
Congratulations to all of the participants who have completed. For those of you still working keep on truckin’ you’ll get there too.
As you may (or may not) know this challenge ends on July 31st. Once it does I will not be starting a second round. I’ve found out that challenge hosting is just not for me. If you’re at all interested in taking it over to keep it going please email me and let me know. I’m happy for someone to embrace it and do it the justice it deserves.
As is the case in all month’s prior to this please let us all know your status. This month I’ll ask that you do so in the comments. Just reply to this post with anything challenge related!
It’s been a pleasure! I hope you enjoyed.

I didn’t get through this challenge, despite my good intentions a year ago.
Thanks for running this!

Because I’m teaching book seven to my Popular Fiction class this fall, I’ve been reading them over again. The bad part was that I started them last month. Therefore, I’m only about two books in, and have a lot to go. I’m going to keep reading though. Who can resist Harry Potter? I know I’ll be sad to see it all end after the last two movies.
At least I have the books to reread a million times, and the movies to watch over and over, right???

Thanks for hosting this, despite my massive fail so far!! I plan to pick up the remainders and write about them as much as I can the rest of this month. In fact, my IRL book club just switched selections to talk about HP during the beginning of next month . . . another motivator!!! I may be back before the 31st!!

I finished Order of the Phoenix (review is here http://www.whimpulsive.net/2010/07/audiobook-harry-potter-and-order-of.html)
It’s obvious with 2 books and 2 weeks left that I’m not going to finish in time, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to the entire series back to back as a re-read so thanks for inspiring me to do that. I’ll just continue and finish on my own time without worrying about any challenge time frames.
I do highly recommend the audio as an excellent re-read method and listening to them back to back has been a lot of fun.

I’ve finished the challenge, now I just need to wrap up my review posts of the books. It’s been a real treat to have an excuse to read and listen to these books again. My oldest son has been listening to them for the first time and it’s so much fun to see him experience them. (My husband and I listened through book five and then read the last two because we couldn’t wait – of course we’ve read them before, but love them too much to be patient. So now after finishing the last two books we’re actually going to be listening to them again on audio with our son.)

Well, I didn’t manage to finish in time, but my husband did (well, he was about 30 minutes after midnight, but I assumed that’s close enough). Here are his final thoughts on books 5,6,&7:

Just wanted to leave a link to my final post: http://www.tiftalksbooks.com/2010/07/choose-my-next-adventure.html
I was unable to complete the full series in time, but I’m still reading and hope to finish in the next week or two!
Thanks again for hosting!
